Ivomec will rid your birds of any air sac mites, most worms and many other internal and external parasites such as blood sucking lice and mites.  There is some speculation amongst professional breeders that this medication “Ivomec” may cause temporary sterility in birds so just to be sure this does not affect our breeding season, we treat our birds once a year during the first week of January to give them a full 4 months to clear out any residuals of the medication from their systems prior to breeding our birds.

DOSE: Treatment is 1 drop of Ivomec under the wing on exposed skin or on the back of the neck just below the head, directly on the skin.  Blow lightly on either spot to expose skin through the feathers. If there is not a patch of skin exposed, gently blow with your mouth on the feathers close to  expose some skin for application.  If you are not comfortable with lifting your bird’s wing and would prefer to apply the Ivomec in a different area, you may do the same (soft blowing) of the feathers just below the base of the skull on the back of the neck to expose some skin and apply 1 drop directly to the skin.  The Ivomec will be absorbed through the skin.

Ivomec (Flock) Water Treatment – Suggested by some Avian Veterinarians

Directions: Shake the Ivermectin solution well.   Follow directions closely!  Do not get on your skin.  Ivomec is absorbed through the skin.  Use caution.  Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Add lcc of the 1% Ivermectin solution to each 32 oz. (1 Quart) of drinking water. Again, shake the mixture well.

Remove all water the evening prior to treatment, (at sunset if your birds are housed outdoors or prior to turning off the lights if they are indoors).  You should clean and sterilize their water container prior to treatment. Present the Ivomec solution to your birds early the next morning.  The birds will usually drink the solution with gusto. One good drink should cure the above mentioned problems however I leave the Ivermec solution for the remainder of the day to be sure all the birds in the cage or loft are treated.

In temperatures over 80 degrees we suggest you only present the ivomec solution to your birds for "HALF - 1/2 Day" as the birds will drink more water in warmer conditions.

Repeat the same treatment in two weeks. (14 days)  Treat all birds with the above mentioned method twice a year if necessary. Once in January or 60 to 90 days prior to breeding, and again at the end of the breeding season if necessary.

Never treat your birds during breeding season with Ivomec!

Be very careful, Ivermectin is a very powerful parasiticide. An overdose may kill your birds.   Follow the above instructions very careful.

Use to cure infestation of external parasites, such as scaly legs and feet, scaly faces, lice, mites, air-sac mites - tracheal mite, perhaps many types of intestinal worms…

Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after application.  It is not recommended to use other medications together with this product therefore it should only be administered separately.  After treating your birds with Ivomec wait about 2 weeks before other treatments are implemented.
